Everything’s a Miracle
Diana – Our theme for the month of May is The Miraculous Nature of Everything!
German Mathematician, Physicist, and Nobel Prize winner Albert Einstein once said, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” We are here this morning to lead you through a series of meditative experiences that will allow you to feel the miraculous nature of everything.
A Course in Miracles tells us that the spiritual path we are on is a Course in Miracles… it is a path from fear to love…a path that each of us will ultimately walk, in this lifetime or some other…and a path that leads us to seeing the miraculous in everyday life.
Here are three ideas presented by the Course…take a few moments to contemplate each one:
- “There is no order of difficulty in miracles.” A miracle is a miracle. There is no small or large in miracles. They are all expressions of Love in action. One is as natural as another.
- “Miracles occur naturally as expressions of Love.” It is important to remember that if I am in fear, I cannot be simultaneously in Love…and so miracles cannot happen.
- “Prayer is the medium of miracles.” Prayer is how I communicate with Infinite Intelligence.
All of my thoughts, words, and feelings are transmitted into the All-That-Is that I call God. When my prayer is one of fear and worry, Intelligence can only say ‘Yes’. And when I am grounded in love, seeing the Highest and Best unfolding, Spirit also says ‘Yes’. God can only say ‘Yes’…this is Spiritual Law, the Law of Correspondence. Whatever energy I am sending into the Great Mind is the energy that is returned to me. I can use this Law for my highest and most joyful experience by attending to my thoughts and feelings. I can make sure that through my thought, through my prayer, love is sent and received. In this way, love can be expressed and appear in a form that I would call a miracle.
It is important to remember that a miracle is not something outside of what is natural. It is just the opposite. A miracle is that which happens when I don’t allow my negative thought patterns to get in the way of the Love, the Freedom, the Peace, and the Beauty that are seeking to be expressed. Miracles are my natural state of being. Everything that is Life-Affirming is a miracle.
Our world is in need of miracle-minded people right now. We are in need of human beings who are willing to put fear to rest, who abide and have faith in God’s Love first and foremost. Our world is crying out for beings who are willing to live their lives firmly grounded in Love and Love alone.
I am raising my hand…raising my heart. I am open to a miracle today…I am open to seeing the miraculous nature of everything.
Chris – The Shining Essence, by Fakhruddin Araqi
I look into the mirror and see my own beauty;
I see the truth of the universe revealing itself as me.
I rise in the sky as the morning Sun, do not be surprised,
Every particle of creation is me alone.
What are the holy spirits? my essence revealed.
And the human body? the vessel of my own form.
What is the ocean that encircles the world?
A drop of my Abundant Grace;
And the purest of light that fills every soul?
A spark of my own illumination.
I am Light itself, reflected in the heart of everyone;
I am the treasure of the Divine Name, the shining Essence of all things.
I am every light that shines, Every ray the illumines the world.
From the highest heavens to the bedrock of the earth
All is but a shadow of my splendor.
If I dropped the veil covering my true essence
The world would be gone – lost in a brilliant light.
What is the water that gives eternal life?
A drop of my divine nectar.
And the breath that brings the dead back to life?
A puff of my breath, the breath of all life.
Diana – Miracles, by Walt Whitman (1819-1892)
Why, who makes much of a miracle?
As to me I know of nothing else but miracles,
Whether I walk the streets of Manhattan,
Or dart my sight over the roofs of houses toward the sky,
Or wade with naked feet along the beach just in the edge of the water,
Or stand under trees in the woods,
Or talk by day with any one I love, or sleep in the bed at night with any one I love,
Or sit at table at dinner with the rest,
Or look at strangers opposite me riding in the car,
Or watch honey-bees busy around the hive of a summer forenoon,
Or animals feeding in the fields,
Or birds, or the wonderfulness of insects in the air,
Or the wonderfulness of the sundown, or of stars shining so quiet and bright,
Or the exquisite delicate thin curve of the new moon in spring;
These with the rest, one and all, are to me miracles,
The whole referring, yet each distinct and in its place.
To me every hour of the light and dark is a miracle,
Every cubic inch of space is a miracle,
Every square yard of the surface of the earth is spread with the same,
Every foot of the interior swarms with the same.
To me the sea is a continual miracle,
The fishes that swim—the rocks—the motion of the waves—the ships with men in them,
What stranger miracles are there?
Chris – A Garden Beyond Paradise, by Jalaluddin Rumi
Everything you see has its roots in the Unseen World.
The forms may change, yet the essence remains the same.
Every wondrous sight will vanish, Every sweet word will fade.
But do not be disheartened, The Source they come from is eternal –
Growing, branching out, giving new life and new joy.
Why do you weep? – That Source is within you,
And this whole world is springing up from it.
The Source is full, Its waters are ever flowing;
Do not grieve, drink your fill!
Don’t think it will ever run dry – This is the endless Ocean!
From the moment you came into this world
A ladder was placed in front of you that you might escape.
From earth you became plant, From plant you became animal.
Afterwards you became a human being,
Endowed with knowledge, intellect, and faith.
Behold the body, born of dust – how perfect it has become!
Why should you fear its end? When were you ever made less by dying?
When you pass beyond this human form,
No doubt you will become an angel and soar through the heavens!
But don’t stop there. Even heavenly bodies grow old.
Pass again from the heavenly realm
and plunge into the vast ocean of Consciousness.
Let the drop of water that is you become a hundred mighty seas.
But do not think that the drop alone Becomes the Ocean –
the ocean, too, becomes the drop!
Diana – In closing today, I would like to bring our attention to some of the greatest miracles of all. The first is that you are alive, healthy, and able-bodied enough to be here this morning.
What is it that makes your blood flow through your body – and what is that universal intelligence that breathes you? Isn’t it a miracle that somehow life evolved on this planet we call earth, and that you are part of that evolution? Life – our greatest miracle and gift. I Am so grateful for my life.
After the miracle of life, the greatest miracle is Love. But what is love? Love is God’s willingness to express Itself as all of creation, according to our intentions and desires…in, through and AS each one of us. “Where there is great love there are always miracles”. Through the miracle of our love, we can indeed transform the world. Love – our great miracle and gift. I Am so grateful for my ability to Love and be loved.
And what about the miracle of Nature, of which we are an intricate and necessary part? Nature is God’s Infinite Creativity at work. It is God’s outward expression of Perfection and Wholeness, Balance and Harmony. It is in Nature that we can witness Spiritual Law in action. We can experience the vastness of the Universe and feel that we are part of something much grander. Nature – our great miracle and gift. I Am so grateful to experience the Beauty and Perfection of Nature.
And finally, there is the miracle of Creativity…not only Divine Creativity, but our personal creativity as individualizes expressions of God? We are free to create, in fact do create, all the time. Creativity is inherent in all of life and we are blessed with conscious creation…in the image and likeness of our Creator. Creativity – our great miracle and gift. I Am blessed with the capacity to consciously co-create my life.
