Mystic Heart Spiritual Center is incorporated as a California non-profit religious organization, so your generous donations are fully tax-deductible. The following is from IRS Publication 1828:
Churches that meet the requirements of IRS Section 501(c)(3) are automatically considered tax exempt and are not required to apply for and obtain recognition of tax-exempt status from the IRS.
Although there is no requirement to do so, many churches seek recognition of tax-exempt status from the IRS because this recognition assures church leaders, members and contributors that the church is recognized as exempt and qualifies for related tax benefits.
We have received a letter of determination from the IRS that Mystic Heart does indeed meet the requirements of IRS Section 501(c)(3) as a non-profit religious organization, and all donations, bequests, devises, transfers or gifts are fully tax-deductible. Donations for classes, workshops, concerts, etc. are generally not tax-deductible. Regarding your donations for classes and workshops, please read the following from IRS Publication 1828:
A contribution made by a donor in exchange for goods or services is known as a quid pro quo contribution. A donor may only take a contribution deduction to the extent that his or her contribution exceeds the fair market value of the goods and services the donor receives in return for the contribution.
