Our Form of Prayer is called Affirmative Prayer or Spiritual Alignment

Prayer

What is Spiritual Alignment?
Spiritual Alignment is a form of Affirmative Prayer developed by the founder of the Science of Mind and Spirit (SoMaS), Dr. Ernest S. Holmes, who referred to it as Spiritual Mind Treatment. The Master Teacher Yeshua (Jesus of Nazareth) taught, “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive” (Matthew 21:22, KJV). Dr. Holmes found a method of increasing and focusing our faith so that when we speak our Word in prayer, it looses the Creative Power of Spirit to bring our desire into our experience. Ernest studied the teachings of Yeshua, and noticed that he said “…the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works” (John 14:10, KJV) and “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30, KJV). These led to the first two steps of Spiritual Alignment: God is the only Power and I am (we all are) one with God. All five steps of Affirmative Prayer are listed at the end of this page, but if you really want to know how to use this technique to make powerful, positive changes in your life, take classes!

Here is Dr. Ernest Holmes’ definition of Spiritual Mind Treatment from the Glossary of the Science of Mind textbook:

Treatment is the art, the act, and the science of consciously inducing thought within the Universal Subjectivity, for the purpose of demonstrating that we are surrounded by a Creative Medium which responds to us through a law of correspondence. In its more simple meaning, treatment is the time, process and method necessary to the changing of our thought. Treatment is clearing the thought of negation, of doubt and fear, and causing it to perceive the ever-presence of God.

The Five Steps of Spiritual Alignment

  1. Recognition (God Is) – We recognize that God is the One Infinite Presence and Power in the universe. Since God is Infinite, there can be nothing else. “God is All There Is.”
  2. Identification or Unification (I Am) – Since God is Infinite, All There Is, all of creation must partake of the nature of God. Made in Spirit’s image and likeness, we are individualized expressions of God. “I am one with God.”
  3. Declaration or Realization (I accept or I affirm) – Centered in the knowing that God is All, and that you are an expression of Spirit, simply declare your Good to be true, here and now and, as Yeshua did, expect it to manifest. “I know that God fulfills my heart’s desire right here and now.”
  4. Gratitude and Acceptance (I Am Grateful) – Centering yourself in gratitude, open your heart in loving acceptance of your Good. “In deep gratitude I freely receive my good now.”
  5. Release (I Let Go and Let God) – It is done. You have spoken your creative word into the Heart, Mind and Law of God, which is compelled to bring it into your experience now. “I let go and let God.”
    And so it is. Amen.
