At Mystic Heart, we acknowledge Six Spiritual Practices that lead us to a Spirit-Centered life and sustain our Consciousness. We refer to these practices as the Six Pillars of a Spiritual Life, and they are:
Prayer, Meditation, Sacred Study, Sacred Service, Divine Circulation, and Celebration
Sacred Service is the practice of serving the Divine through serving others. This spiritual practice is present in many, if not all faith paths. The Christian New Testament quotes Jesus as saying, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” In the Hindu/Yogic tradition Sacred Service is called Seva. In the Hebrew tradition it is Avodath Hakodesh, or “Holy Work”. The Islamic tradition of Zakat emphasizes one’s social responsibility as part of one’s service to God. Any service that we perform for others, without seeking a “return on our investment” or any other attachment to the outcome is Sacred Service. We serve the Divine Creator by serving God’s Creation.
Please peruse the volunteer opportunities below to see if you would like to incorporate one or more of them into your personal Spiritual Practice of Sacred Service.
